You know those mornings where you wake up having dreamed about craft and you HAVE to get on and make it? It doesn’t happen to me that often, but it did today. Fortunately it is my day off work so after my 8am dentist appointment (happy Friday 13th everyone!) and the preschool run I cracked on.
My ‘dream’ project involved using the hexagon dies which came with the Crafter’s Inspiration magazine to make nuts. Men’s cards are notoriously hard and so I made the most of the moment of inspiration and drew a layout before going to the dentist. I can finally die cut again now too as Dave got me a Sizzix Big Shot Plus for my birthday-I am very lucky (I did order it myself though!)
Anyway, here is my finished card complete with mini easel-part of my attempt to photograph my work better!
What do you think? The light reflected too much off the metallic card nuts which ruins the photo slightly but the card is precisely the one I dreamed about making.
The paper is from the Docrafts MrMister range, with a red backing card for just a pop of colour. I used my Cricut machine with Boys Will Be Boys cartridge for the lettering (I couldn’t find an apostrophe so I used the middle of the ‘B’ for that!) The nuts were all die cut from mirror card and the centres cut out using a single hole punch. 3D foam tape helped a few of the nuts stand out for added dimension too. The backing paper has also been edged with silver chalk but doesn’t show up that much.
Don’t you just love it when a card design comes together just how you want it to? Now to create a couple more for upcoming birthdays. I’m quite excited!
Really great! Dreaming about crafts – I’m jealous, I’m not sure I ever have and now I’m wondering why not!

Thanks, maybe I think about craft too much when there’s other boring grown up stuff I should be focusing on!

That’s a really cute card! I have an AccuQuilt which is really designed more for fabric but can be used on card stock. I’ve heard great things about the Sizzix.

Thank you! I’m hoping it will last me a while, the last cutter lasted for over 6 years. π

Nice nuts!! I’m sure you’ll love your new die cutter. My first machine was the normal Big Shot, which I have had for at least eight years, and it is still the one I use most. Great card.

Thanks! I love the fact it can cut up to A4, means I have more options for cutting.
