Blogger Recognition Award

Wow! Thanks to Betty at Bookish Regards for the very kind nomination. This is my first blogging award and I was most surprised when I got home from work and found out about it.

The rules:

  • Write a post to show your award
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started
  • Give two advice to new bloggers
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to

Why did I start this blog?

I’ve always loved craft and really wanted to share that. I’d not been much of a writer for years-the extent of most of my typing was lesson plans with the odd thank you note thrown in! As I was preparing to leave my job, my work colleagues joked about me publishing a book of my ‘nutty ideas’-every time I announced in the staffroom “I’ve had an idea…” there were rolled eyes and much hilarity, but many of my ideas were brought to life thanks to their support (and their ability to produce absolutely anything from the shed whenever we needed it). Of course, writing a book is very much a pipe dream but it did get me thinking and a couple of months later I started this blog.

Tips for new bloggers?

  1. Be yourself. Don’t try to copy other bloggers-you being you is what people want to read about! That is why they will keep following your blog.
  2. Blogging is a two-way process, make sure you read and comment on other people’s blogs as well as producing your own content. It’s a great way to get to know other people and it can help you to gain followers (if that is what you’re aiming for).

I’m tagging:

All of these awesome blogs!

  1. Creative Em
  2. Little Secret Garden
  3. Paper Glitz
  4. Mending Making Crafting
  5. Barbara Ann Paper Arts
  6. Paper Fluff
  7. Coggies and Cuddies
  8. Emma’s Craft Projects
  9. A Therapeutic Art Journey
  10. Duck and Cover
  11. A Tangled Yarn
  12. Craft Odyssey
  13. My Trailing Hobbies
  14. Wild Daffodil
  15. Katy Trail Creations
  16. Life With Whimsy

Sorry if you’ve already been nominated, and if you don’t want to join in then I won’t be offended!

Thanks for reading and keeping up with my crafting adventures so far!

  1. Congratulations on getting the award and being able to think of 15 blogs to give the award to. Thank you so much! I am truly honoured that you thought of me. I won’t do the follow up bits though, I find them a bit daunting, but I am really very grateful for your nomination.

  3. Thanks heaps for the nomination. I’m not sure I’ll be able to do the follow up – as a new blogger, I don’t think I could list 15 others! I’ll have a wee think! I’ve really appreciated the support I’ve had from other crafty bloggers and would love to “spread the love”! Thanks again x

    1. Mrs Craft’s tips are spot on! another way to increase traffic is to join in with weekly challenges connected with the subjects on your blog. Each challenge has it’s own supportive community of bloggers. Good luck!

  5. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!! a well deserved recognition for a superb blog, some of your nominations I’m not familiar with …off to sort that out right now, so thanks for introducing me to them.
I love your inspiration for starting a blog ~ and the way I see it, isn’t writing a blog a bit like writing a book but with the chapters wrote & published separately ??
THANK YOU for the nomination (I have been fortunate enough to receive this award a few times, so would it be OK if I did a tongue in cheek acceptance speech? )
