These weeks to Christmas seem to be flying by, but luckily this week I have managed to do a bit of crafting amongst other things.
The advent calendar is coming along nicely. All four strips of pockets have been sewn together with border strips attached. I’ve ironed the bottom edges up ready for sewing to the base and also ironed the edging strips. There’s a lot of hand sewing still to do but it looks a bit more like it’s coming together now.
It’s only pinned at the moment and I’ve got a bit of adjusting to do before I sew the strips down. I’m slightly more hopeful about finishing it now!
I also made a card (cards aren’t normally a WIP for long so it’s a finished project but I decided to include it anyway!) It’s for my grandad’s birthday, and masculine cards always seem to be tricky. I was having one of those ‘can’t see the woods for the trees’ moments when I rummaged in the die cutters box and found a camper van. Boom! There was my idea, handed to me on a plate. Grandad actually had a real VW camper back in the day so it was the perfect motif for his card. Some map paper from the Mister Mr range and some Kraft card were perfect for backing it. I used my silicone embossing mat to add the details to the van and went over them with a silver marker pen. After I took the photo I decided to add some faux stitching with a brown pen to make the panel stand out. The sentiment was also tricky as it seems so hard to find a perfect ‘Happy Birthday’ stamp. This one had a butterfly attached to the y so I masked it off before inking and it seemed to work well.
That’s all for this week, hoping to squeeze in a bit more craft time next week.
What are you working on? Please share, I always love to know what everyone else is up to!
