WIP Wednesday-19th July

The air has been a bit blue this week because the Lush cardigan went a bit wrong (I’ve been home alone as the children have been at school and pre-school and I’ve not had work!)

I’m also a fibber as it didn’t just go a bit wrong, I had to frog it back to above where the sleeves start. I’d begun picking up stitches for the sleeves, but I hadn’t darned in the ends where I’d started again after the cast off parts and so I accidentally pulled a thread and undid some stitches and could not for the life of me fathom how to sort it.

Yesterday I had a marathon knitting session and now only have about 4 inches of the back left to work. When I knitted the underarms this time, I purled two together two minimise holes and then immediately did an increase. I also darned in the ends under the arms. It does look far neater and hopefully when I finally get to the sleeves I will make a neater job of it!

I am also working to a deadline as I’m hoping I will finish this by next Friday! Fingers crossed, it is my only WIP currently so all of my attention is focused on it.

I’m just adding a little update on a past WIP as I delivered it to it’s handsome new 8 day old owner today. The beautiful shells blanket has a new home!

What are you working on this week? Hopefully you’re having more success than me! (There is a FO Friday post in the pipeline so keep an eye out for it.) Please share what you’re up to.

  1. Oh no! I’ve been there with having to frog so much of a project it just makes me want to throw it all away! Good job with your “marathon” of knitting… it looks like it will be gorgeous!
Also love the blanket, so pretty!

  2. I feel your pain on the frogging, but you seem to be back on track! I am in love with that shells blanket, it’s so pretty! I have to thank you for the advice on using a lifeline in knitting, I think I may tackle more knitting projects in the future!

  3. I truly admire your dedication to that cardigan – it seems to have taken weeks to get right! I’m currently working on a crocheted cloak, and am relatively close to finishing the hood. I love the blanket and it’s wrapping – beautiful! 😊

    1. Haha, thanks. I shouldn’t have taken nearly 2 weeks off from knitting it! It has been a bit challenging at times but because it’s ‘nice’ yarn I can’t just leave mistakes, it’s got to be spot on. Your cloak sounds fab. 😊

  4. I’m dithering on my cardigan again. Ive been knitting the first button band but it doesnt sit right at the neckline and hemline edges. I cant decide whether blocking will sort it out or if i need to frog it and start it again.
