Holiday Season

It’s that time of year again when everyone seems to be on holiday having a whale of a time and posting photos all over social media. That’s lovely, but there’s often a lot more to it than posing for the photos, especially when kids are involved.

I’m just going to leave a link here to our holiday adventures last year (it was brilliant but bonkers!)

Enjoy!

  1. As an American living as an immigrant in Europe, I have lived the “holiday season” completely mystified because we silly Americans consider ourselves to be on vacation when we aren’t working. A holiday is a special day, like Christmas or Hanukkah or Easter. Not working has many possibilities, like not going anywhere. Since we’ve been much more connected to the world with the internet in the past twenty years, we have even coined the phrase “I’m on staycation” which means no, no, I’m not traveling anywhere, I’m just not working and lounging around my house, using my assigned leave time from my job”. No idea what image they sell in the UK, but over here on “the continent” you aren’t “on holiday / on vacation” unless you’re on a crowded beach getting skin cancer, far from your home. I recall the post you’ve linked to. It sounds like an American-style vacation, which involves doing some stuff with the family in the caravan. I like your bonkers holiday. Good fun. No skin cancer.

    1. Thank you, it’s funny how words mean different things in different countries. We are just home from our camping holiday in the Peak District, which is about as far from a beach as you can get in England.
