Last week in my WIP Wednesday post I said that I was going to have a busy week. Somehow I still fitted in some of my own crafting around making birthday cakes, a birthday card, Easter baskets for 4 children and an Easter tree. (I think the weather has been on my side-the allotment is under about 6 inches of water so I can’t do much there!)
On Good Friday, the children and I set up our Easter tree in a gigantic vase that I bought for £3 in the Tesco sale after Mother’s Day. Together we covered polystyrene eggs in tissue paper and painted mod podge over the top. My daughter was really engaged in this and soon got the hang of smoothing over the joins with her paintbrush! We had the decorations fairly well balanced, until I went into the kitchen to finish making cakes and my little one rearranged the whole thing to her liking.
I’ve done a reasonable amount of sock knitting in the car on journeys to various places and I’m only about 12 rows away from starting the heel flap now. I’m tending to keep this as my portable project as the blanket is too heavy to take anywhere. Little and often seems to be getting a good amount of progress though and I’m not in a great hurry to have my socks.
I took a few days off from the cosy stripe blanket, partly due to birthday and Easter crafting and partly because I was disheartened by having to frog so much. Today I got back in the game though, as I completed 4 stripes whilst we all watched a film. Often when the rest of the family are watching TV I make the most of the calm time and get the ironing etc. done. Today I decided to say stuff it and went and sat with them, and I’m glad I did, as I enjoyed the film and got lots of crocheting done. Looking at the yarn I have left, I can do 5 more colour repeats, so 20 stripes or 40 rows. Maybe I can persuade the kids to watch a few more films this Easter!

What have you been working on this week? Have you done any last minute Easter crafting? Let me know, feel free to share here or on Instagram.
I’m proudly linking up with Janine @ Rainbow Hare and her Wool on Sundays post.
It is impressive that you can work on things while being in a moving car, I used to be able to do that but during the recent years, I started to get sick when I tried to do that.

I have to go steady, if we are going really far or over hills then I can only work for a little while 😊

Your easter tree is lovely . Maybe a little lopsided but little ones know how things should be.
The projects are coming along well …you will finish in time. When ever that is.
The rabbit story is cute. Keep us posted on the next one. I wasn’t able to comment directly.

very nice 🙂 I try to have socks as my portable project, but then tend to gravitate to them at other times as well since they’re just so fun!

They are, especially when turning the heel and you don’t want to lose track of rows I always make sure I’ve got a good length of craft time before that bit!

Thank you for linking up with Wool on Sundays 🙂
Your sock is coming on beautifully and your blanket is certainly on the home straight now. I also love the tree. I hope you have a great Easter holiday and the nice weather keeps up 🙂

Sorry I’m SO late in getting to this post … I’m days and days behind my ‘Reader’ and trying to catch up.
LOVE the tree …. and I think it looks brilliant – it’s exactly how I would have decorated it. 🙂
The blanket … each time you share it with us, I fall more and more in love with it. It’s such an incredible work of heart, and the colours are perfection. This is so weird to me because I’m not a ‘green’ kind of person. I don’t have any green clothes and nowhere in my house is decorated with a green theme …. so why I look at the blanket and my heart yearns to buy it, is a real brain blower.
I think your beautiful blanket is making me change how I look at green – and I reckon it’s because of the colour combination that you’ve used. ‘Green’ doesn’t scream out at me from that blanket – but ‘beautiful’ does.
Ohhh, I so love it Mrs.C. I wish I could explain how I love it and why, but it’s something to do with ‘it’ speaking to my heart, and my heart answering – and since it’s ‘their’ conversation I can’t seem to get a real hold on what’s being said. I just know that I love it.
GREAT post. (sorry I’m late getting to it!)

Ah, thank you so much for the kind comments. The colours are not my favourite, but my son loves them and now he has a blanket like daddy’s. I’ve a feeling it will be misused for many things! X x
