Last week in my WIP Wednesday post I said that I was going to have a busy week. Somehow I still fitted in some of my own crafting around making birthday cakes, a birthday card, Easter baskets for 4 children and an Easter tree. (I think the weather has been on my side-the allotment is under about 6 inches of water so I can’t do much there!)
On Good Friday, the children and I set up our Easter tree in a gigantic vase that I bought for £3 in the Tesco sale after Mother’s Day. Together we covered polystyrene eggs in tissue paper and painted mod podge over the top. My daughter was really engaged in this and soon got the hang of smoothing over the joins with her paintbrush! We had the decorations fairly well balanced, until I went into the kitchen to finish making cakes and my little one rearranged the whole thing to her liking.
I’ve done a reasonable amount of sock knitting in the car on journeys to various places and I’m only about 12 rows away from starting the heel flap now. I’m tending to keep this as my portable project as the blanket is too heavy to take anywhere. Little and often seems to be getting a good amount of progress though and I’m not in a great hurry to have my socks.
I took a few days off from the cosy stripe blanket, partly due to birthday and Easter crafting and partly because I was disheartened by having to frog so much. Today I got back in the game though, as I completed 4 stripes whilst we all watched a film. Often when the rest of the family are watching TV I make the most of the calm time and get the ironing etc. done. Today I decided to say stuff it and went and sat with them, and I’m glad I did, as I enjoyed the film and got lots of crocheting done. Looking at the yarn I have left, I can do 5 more colour repeats, so 20 stripes or 40 rows. Maybe I can persuade the kids to watch a few more films this Easter!
What have you been working on this week? Have you done any last minute Easter crafting? Let me know, feel free to share here or on Instagram.
